About Sct. Michael

Saint Michael is ranked in the Bible as the chief of the seven archangels and is the angel and messenger of God and patron of the church.

Saint Michael is the chief of the seven archangels.

He is the angel and messenger of the Lord, patron of the church and the weak souls. Saint Michael was in the Middle Ages also the patron saint of many Christian knights.

As the chief archangel, Saint Michael meets the prince of darkness unafraid. He leads the heavenly army in a deadly battle against the evil dragon "Diabolos" which ended with Diabolos and his followers losing the battle and being plunged to the ground.

Michael's mission is to save the souls of believers from Satan's power - especially at the moment of death. He is the protector of God's people.

Saint Michael is often depicted with either the sword he uses in the fight against evil (the dragon), or with the weight bowl he uses to weigh the souls of the dead.

Saint Michael is celebrated on September 29 on Mikkelsdag.

By the way, Saint Michael is also an archangel in the Jewish and Islamic worlds. He is mentioned in the Torah, the Qur'an and the Bible.
